34 Years After The Karate Kid – Cobra Kai | Trailer

Thirty four years after the events of The Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka pull out their black belts for a sequel series, Cobra Kai.

The Karate Kid inspired young viewers the world over with the story of a conquering underdog. “Wax on wax off” became an iconic phrase and we all tried to catch flies with chopsticks. One kid at my school even tried to fight off another with the famous ‘Crane Kick’. It didn’t end well.

Now we get a first proper look as a new sequel series heading to YouTube Red. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence respectively.

With the fortunes of the once arch rivals reversed, LaRusso is now a successful business man whilst Lawrence struggles through life. However, the once fierce member of the ruthless Cobra Kai seeks redemption when inspired to re-open his former dojo.

Desperate kids seek the skills required to defend themselves on the, now, much tougher streets of California inspiring the next generation of Karate Kids and reigniting LaRusso and Lawrence’s bitter rivalry.

Cobra Kai will be available exclusively to YouTube Red from May 2nd.

About Cobra Kai | In the highly-anticipated return of two iconic characters, the arch-rivals from the legendary Karate Kid film series reunite over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Now living in the affluent hills of Encino, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) leads an enviable life with his beautiful family, while running a successful string of car dealerships throughout the valley. Meanwhile, his high school adversary, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), whose life has taken a rocky turn, seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. Their lives inevitably become intertwined and the rivalry is reignited, setting forth the next generation of “karate kids”.
