Reebok continue their affiliation with the Alien franchise with the announcement of two new additions to the Alien Stomper range.
Last year Reebok issued two replica versions of the footwear worn by Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in the 1986 film ‘Aliens’. This year, to celebrate the second international Alien Day the footwear manufacturers have announced two new additions to the ‘Alien Stomper’ range.
Paying homage to the final battle in the film, these two new pairs draw influence from the Alien Queen and the Power Loader Ripley uses to battle her.
Chris Hill and Xavier Jones are the designers responsible for the footwear and both have drawn heavily on small details from the film to create something that true fans will appreciate.
The more subtle of the two designs is the ‘Alien Queen’ high-tops that, like the Queen herself, come in a glossy patent black finish and little other details of contrast. A nice feature though is that some blacked out components glow bright green in the dark.
Far more striking are the ‘Power Loader’ high-tops based on the machine utilised by Ripley at the finale of Aliens to fight with the Alien Queen.
Featuring the same bright yellow with industrial markings this pair come with a smart mesh detail over the Reebok logo to echo the canopy on the loader. Of the two, these would be my choice.
The attention to detail doesn’t end with the shoes. The designers logged a considerable number of work hours ensuring that the packaging for each of the shoes is something fans will appreciate too. Just like the Nintendo X Vans NES box, the packaging for these Alien Stompers is a collectors item in itself.
Learning from criticism levelled at the company following last year’s Alien Stomper release that came only in men’s sizes, Reebok have made a point of advertising the Queens and Power Loaders as being available in a range of sizes for men and women.
These latest additions to the Alien Stomper rang will be on sale from July 18th and you can register your interest with Reebok now on the official website.
