An Unfortunate Trailer

An Unfortunate Trailer

In November of 2014, Netflix announced they they are creating a series based on ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’. This is the first teaser for that show…or is it?

‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is a series of thirteen children’s books written by  Daniel Handler. The first three books were adapted into a film in 2004 starring Jim Carrey. Hoping to start a new franchise, the film unfortunately under performed at the box office putting to rest to those plans.

Netflix announced in November of 2014 that it had plans to create a series based on the property and released this statement.

A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the tale of orphaned children Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf, as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ death.

A teaser trailer appeared on YouTube from user ‘Eleanora Poe’ who is one of the characters from the book series. Was this an attempt to go viral?

Netflix later confirmed that this is a fan made fake and is nothing to do with their series. This means that this is one of the best fan made trailers I have seen. The attention to detail is amazing and that just leaves the question, who made this and why?
