Build Your Own Lightsaber…For The Kids Obviously!

Lightsabers are cool! Darth Maul made them even cooler with a twin blade and The Force Awakens features a lightsaber with a crossguard. Maybe your kid will design the next iteration?

Hasbro is certainly hoping kids of all ages will at least have fun building their own lightsaber designs. Due for release later this year and just in time for The Force Awakens, Hasbro are releasing Star Wars Bladebuilders.

The set consists of a selection of compatible hilts, connectors and various lightsaber materials that let children design whatever kind of Jedi, or Sith weapon, they can imagine.

As you can see from the pictures below, there’s quite a lot of combinations to be had. The set is for ages 4+ and will retail for $49.99.

Children can then purchase further lightsabers that belong to their favorite Star Wars characters to give them more parts to add to their Bladebuilder toolkit. Lightsabers from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker will be available in electronic versions for $19.99.

Yoda, Vader and Luke variants will also retail with foam blades for $14.99. Finally Luke, Vader and Anakin Skywalker fans can purchase their lightsabers in extending plastic variants for $9.99.

The toys will be on display at the New York City Toy Fair February 14-17, 2015.
