Children Develop Powers In The First Trailer For The Darkest Minds

The first trailer for ‘The Darkest Minds’ relies on a tried and tested formula where teens struggle with the alienation of developing special powers.

From the producers of ‘Stranger Things’ this first trailer for ‘The Darkest Minds’ offers little more than we’ve seen any number of times in film and television programs already.

A pinch of ‘Heroes’, a dash of ‘X-Men’ add a little of that ‘Stranger Things’ darkness to the mix and… voila! Another story of teens developing abilities and a government wanting to contain the potential threat. Meanwhile families are torn apart, the kids are alienated and must resist oppression whilst coming to terms with their newfound powers. Cue a revolution. Did I miss anything?

Cool title though. Amandla Stenberg, Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie star in this adaptation of the book written by Alexandra Bracken.

‘The Darkest Minds’ hits U.S. cinema screens on August 3rd and in the U.K. on August 10th. For other regions, check IMDB.
