We, at The Unheard Nerd, were as sad at the demise of NBC’s ‘Constantine’ series as most. But Matt Ryan is back as The CW look to revive John Constantine.
NBC dropped ‘Constantine’ after just one season much to the annoyance of its faithful fanbase. A viewer led campaign to revive the show failed but the titular character, played by Matt Ryan, did appear as a guest on one episode of Arrow on The CW.
Now it looks like the network, which already plays host to ‘The Flash’, ‘Arrow’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘iZombie’ and took over the reigns of ‘Supergirl’ after its first season on CBS, are looking to bring ‘Constantine to The CW after all.
Sadly we won’t be seeing more live action episodes just yet, but a number of short animated episodes have been commissioned. According to Deadline five, ten minute episodes will be shown on The CW’s digital outlet CW Seed.
The good news is Matt Ryan, who played the role so perfectly in the NBC series, is back to voice the animated version of his portrayal of John Constantine.
The actor has often declared his affection for the character and would be keen to reprise the role if a revival was to take place.
