Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is a sequel to the prequel of the entire Planet Of The Apes saga that began way back in 1968. This is the seventh film in the series of you don’t count the dodgy Tim Burton directed reboot.
Whilst the original saga detailed the planet Earth in the far future, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, set in the modern-day, follows on from Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and tells the story of how the apes became intelligent and took over the world.
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes gained a nervous reception when it was first announced but received excellent reviews upon release and I recommend you check it out if only for the excellent CGI work of Cesar, the ape of the story (Whose motion capture work was performed by Andy Serkis of Gollum and King Kong fame).
The teaser trailer doesn’t really reveal any plot points but sets the mood brilliantly. We also have the four teaser posters which you can find below the video.
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes opens in the US on 11th July and the UK on 17th July.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
