Whilst some logos are timeless the DC Comics logo seems not to be one of them as the comics giant reveals their new look for 2016.
Having launched an entirely new logo as recently as 2012 DC Entertainment will mark the launch of their latest brand relaunch – known as Rebirth – later in the month. In a statement on the official website the comics giant writes “DC Entertainment announced a new identity and logo for its iconic DC brand. The new DC logo is a mark that leverages over 80 years of heritage with an eye toward the future.”
The new logo will debut on the cover of the ‘DC Universe: Rebirth Special #1’ comic book written by Geoff Johns on May 25th which will mark the official launch of the companies reboot – except, don’t call it a reboot it’s more of a… taking all the best of DC past and present and moving it forward to the future, kind of…
In a statement on dccomics.com Amit Desai, DC Entertainment Senior Vice President of Marketing and Global Franchise Management writes “While comics continue to be the heart and soul of DC, the brand has evolved to now stand for powerful storytelling across so many different forms of media. DC is home to the greatest Super Heroes and Super-Villains, and the new logo has the character and strength to stand proudly alongside DC’s iconic symbols”
