A live action ‘Rogue One’ prequel series is in development to stream on Disney+, the company’s new streaming platform.
As production roles on for a Star Wars series led by Jon Favreau, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has revealed that a second live action Star Wars show is in the works.
Starring Diego Luna the series will see the actor reprise his role of rebel spy Cassian Andor. The show will focus on the early days of the rebellion and is set before events depicted in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘.
Described as a ‘rousing spy thriller’ the series will explore tales of espionage and follow the rebels as they undertake clandestine missions in pursuit of their ultimate goal to restore hope to the galaxy as it suffocates under the rule of the ruthless Empire.
In a statement posted on starwars.com Diego Luna describes his feeling about returning to a galaxy a long, long time ago.
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me”, “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply”.
As yet untitled, the series is set to go into production next year.
