The Ghostbusters franchise reaches Italy in these brilliant fan films

In the original Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman talks to Ray Stantz very optimistically about starting up their own ghost catching service,

“The franchise rights alone will make us rich beyond our wildest dreams.”

Taking this line as a point of inspiration, a group of Italian Ghostbusters fans created their own short film. Entitled Ghostbusters – Franchising Italy, the film runs for around ten minutes and the results are certainly impressive. They even went as far as obtaining the same actors who dubbed the original film into Italian to also work on their version.

The completed film was posted onto the internet in December 2010 and you can watch it below.

Seven years later and the same crew is currently working on a sequel. From what I can gather this new film is far more ambitious with an estimated forty minute run time.

Ghostbusters Italia, to give the film its title, has been entirely self-financed. As you can see from the trailer below which was released back in April, the effects work is awesome! The longest shot of the trailer blew me away and looks like something Hollywood would create but I won’t spoil any more details here.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one and let you know when the finished film makes its debut appearance.
