After a few weeks off The Geekend Review returns with a load of comic book movie and TV news. From posters to teasers and casting news, every superhero geek should be well and truly satisfied with this week’s news offering.
Guardians Of The Galaxy could be the surprise package with the first trailer and subsequent promotional material setting the movie up to be something rather special. Enjoy.

What followed shortly after was a series of short profile videos that showcased each character. Chris Pratt (Voice of Emmett in The Lego Movie) plays Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) takes the role of Gamora, Dave Bautista (Riddick) is Drax The Destroyer while Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel voice Rocket Racoon and Groot respectively.
As you’d expect from Marvel, Benicio Del Toro appears as The Collector having had a brief role in the end of credits segment at the end of Thor: The Dark World. Equally interesting in particular for UK readers is the casting of Peter Serafinowicz as a Nova Corps Officer. For those who don’t know, he is the actor who utters the line “What an A hole” in the trailer.

The Fantastic Four Reboot Cast Confirmed
The cast of The Fantastic Four reboot has been revealed as (From left to right), Mike Teller (Divergent) as Reed Richards / Mr Fantastic, Kate Mara (24) as Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (The Wire) as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch and British actor Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) as Ben Grimm / The Thing.
The Fantastic Four is set for release in June 2015.
Jada Pinkett-Smith becomes the latest name to be cast in the forthcoming television series that will revolve around Commissioner Gordon’s rise to prominence in Gotham years before Batman’s arrival. At the time a detective, Gordon will be played by Ben McKenzie (Junebug).
Pinkett-Smith (The Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions) is set to play a character called Fish Mooney. But what do we know about Mooney this far? She’s a ruthless gang leader and nightclub owner who is likely to exist as the main bad girl of season one as the character of Oswald Cobblepot develops into the Penguin. Cobblepot is to be played by Robin Taylor.
Rumours are also abound that Mooney could be Catwoman’s mother and if Gotham proves to be popular a spin-off Young Catwoman series could follow.
deadline.com has announced that Welsh actor Matt Ryan has been cast in the role of John Constantine for an NBC television production to be made by Warner Bros based on the DC Comics character.
The series will revolve around Constantine (who was portrayed on the big screen by Keanu Reeves back in 2005) as a reluctant super-natural detective who protects us from evil dark forces.

“John Constantine is described as a working-class Londoner with rakish good looks, scruffy blond hair, deadpan humor, and signature trench coat, who has been studying the dark arts since he was a teenager.”
X-Men Days Of Future Past
Finally in this unashamedly tv and movie centric edition of The Geekend Review, The Flickering Myth have revealed a number of high res images from Bryan Singer’s latest directorial effort X-Men Days Of Future Past.
