Guardians Of The Galaxy Cast Issues Open Letter In Support Of James Gunn

Key cast members of Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ have issued an open letter in support of fired director James Gunn.

Following the events a little over ten days ago which saw ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ writer and director, James Gunn, fired by Marvel Studios, the main cast from the hit films have issued an open letter to “fans and friends”.

In their carefully considered statement key members of the cast led by Chris Pratt state their desire to see Gunn reinstated as director of Volume 3 of the cosmic Marvel film.

Gunn was suddenly fired in late July following the re-emergence of bad taste tweets made by the filmmaker, some as long ago as ten years. The content of the social media posts were undeniably in poor taste referencing rape and peodophilia as subjects of ‘edgy’ shock value comedy.

The director has addressed these tweets over the years stating that he, as a person, has matured in the decade since some of the comments were posted. Despite this, Marvel took swift and decisive action against Gunn which appears rather difficult for the studio to back away from now.

Regardless, Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) alongside Zoe Saldana (Gamora), David Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Voice of Rocket), Vin Diesel (Voice of Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Pom Klementieff (Mantis) and Gunn’s brother Sean have all signed an open letter distributed via twitter requesting the reinstatement of James Gunn who has recently finished his treatment of the third ‘Guardians’ film.

It will be interesting to see how far the stars are willing to push their point in order to achieve their goal.
