Coming in 2019, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will blend the magic of the wizarding world with Niantic’s AR knowhow.
Building on the runaway success of Pokémon GO, Niantic are putting their augmented reality expertise towards a magical new game. In association with Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, Niantic are gearing up for the launch of ‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’.
The premise of the game can be found on their ‘recruitment’ page where you can now register your interest in the game.
harrypotterwizardsunite.com: “The Ministry is looking for witches and wizards willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.“
This new teaser gives just a hint of what to expect from the game. To think that it will be Pokémon GO dressed up as the wizarding world might be unfair. I’d expect a more complex experience with a more task based structure.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is coming to mobile devices in 2019.
