A father and daughter’s hunt for riches on an alien world becomes a fight for survival
Originally released in 2014 as a short film, Prospect has been remade by the creators, Chris Caldwell and Zeek Earl, into a full-length feature.
In Prospect, a father and daughter team make a trip to a forest on an alien world with a contract to retrieve a haul of valuable gems. As you can see from the trailer, they aren’t the only people there and their prospecting trip becomes a fight for survival.
I’m loving the aesthetic for this film, almost as if it was made in the 1970s, It’s reminding me very much of the original Alien from 1979.
As of yet, there are no details of any widespread release but Prospect will hold its premiere at the 2018 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 10th.
A teenage girl and her father travel to a remote alien moon, aiming to strike it rich. They’ve secured a contract to harvest a large deposit of the elusive gems hidden in the depths of the moon’s toxic forest. But there are others roving the wilderness and the job quickly devolves into a fight to survive. Forced to contend not only with the forest’s other ruthless inhabitants, but with her own father’s greed-addled judgment, the girl finds she must carve her own path to escape.
