Its Deadpool 2…But For Kids!! | Once Upon A Deadpool

Deadpool 2 is to return to theatres once again in a new special edition for children!

Deadpool 2 was the successful 2018 sequel to the 2016 original. Grossing over $750 million at the box office, the film has also done great business on home video which features an extended cut with different jokes and extra scenes.

Towards the end of September, 20th Century Fox hinted that a new version of Deadpool 2 would be released into theatres in time for Christmas. Everyone assumed this would be a heavily edited release of the original to meet the specifications for a PG-13 release.

In November, 20th Century Fox announced Once Upon A Deadpool, not just a PG-13 edited version of Deadpool 2 as it contained new jokes and footage suitable for the younger target audience.

Deadpool 2 writer Paul Wernick commented,

“it’s subversive enough and fun and creative and something that only Deadpool could do. So I think it’s going to be a real joy for not only a whole new audience, but also an audience that has seen and loved the Deadpool movies.”

Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, agreed to the PG-13 release if 20th Century Fox donated profits to a cancer charity. Fox agreed and $1 from every ticket sale will be donated to the appropriately named Fudge Cancer charity.

Once Upon A Deadpool will open in theatres December 12th for a two-week limited run.
