Mattel Reveal A Tomb Raider Barbie Modelled On Alicia Vikander

There’s a new kick-ass Barbie in town and she’s based on Alicia Vikander’s portrayal of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider reboot.

Yes, I admit it, the first thing I checked for is whether this Lara Croft Barbie has an extremely long neck like Alicia Vikander appears to have in this movie poster for Tomb Raider. Good news, yes! It looks like the neck is to scale, and by to scale I mean unfeasibly long.

Of course, Barbie is no stranger to sporting an impossible body shape, which is the reason any version of the doll that ever made it into either of my daughter’s possession has mysteriously disappeared in the night never to be seen again? My feminist wife is non committal to her level of involvement in this.

She did it.

Regardless, toy makers Mattel have revealed the doll at the New York Toy Fair this week which is retailing at for $29.99.

The doll is fully articulated and comes with a climbing axe, a journal, map and sports a miniature outfit similar to that worn by Alicia Vikander in the movie. Each figure also comes with a stand and a certificate of authenticity. Yep, that’s a Tomb Raider Barbie.

Tomb Raider hits cinemas from March 16th.
