Midnight Special, Looks Pretty Special | Trailer 2

Midnight Special, Looks Pretty Special | Trailer 2

A new trailer for Midnight Special suggests it could be a modern day classic sci-fi movie in the vein of Close Encounters.

Writer/Director Jeff Nichols appears to have created something special in his latest feature Midnight Special in which a father (Michael Shannon – Man of Steel) goes on the run to protect his son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher) and seek out the truth behind the boy’s unique powers.

The film exhibits great promise in this second trailer that evokes a similar tone as Steven Spielberg’s 1977 classic sci-fi epic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Joel Egerton (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man) and Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) also star.

Midnight Special hits U.S. cinemas from March 18th whilst the U.K must wait until April 8th. Release dates for other regions are limited.

In the sci-fi thriller “Midnight Special,” writer/director Jeff Nichols proves again that he is one of the most compelling storytellers of our time, as a father (Michael Shannon), goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers.
What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever, in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.
