A Monster Calls | Official UK Trailer

Based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel, A Monster Calls delves into loss, faith and escapism through the eyes of a 12 year old.

Twelve year old Connor struggles to come to terms with his mother’s illness and is the subject of bullying at school. His means of escape is into a world of fantasy and fairy tales where he befriends the monster found in his imagination.

Lewis MacDougall debuts in his role as Connor whilst Felicity Jones portrays his mother with Liam Neeson providing the voice of the monster and Sigourney Weaver lending her talents a Connor’s grandmother.

a Monster Calls will play at various film festivals throughout the remainder of 2016 with a cinematic release scheduled for New Year’s Day 2017. For festival dates check IMDB.

A visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (“The Impossible”), based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith. Also featuring Liam Neeson who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title, and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.
