‘Morgan’ Isn’t Human, Morgan Is Something New

‘Morgan’ Isn’t Human, Morgan Is Something New

This first teaser trailer for ‘Morgan’ bears similarities to both ‘Splice’ and ‘Ex_Machina’.

Details are vague for ‘Morgan’, which stars Kate Mara (The Martian) and Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones). Internet rumour suggests that the film shares the same basic concept as the 2009 film ‘Splice’ in which rogue scientists perfect the DNA splicing of different animals to create a brand new species.

‘Morgan’ appears to stay focussed on a more human scale with the trailer showing the rapid development of the titular character. There also seem to be similarities with the fantastic sci-fi/horror ‘Ex_Machina’too as Morgan becomes a danger.

Ridley Scott executive produces, Luke Scott directs with 20th Century Fox releasing the film. It’s somewhat surprising how low-key the marketing of this film has been considering it arrives in U.K. and U.S. cinemas on the 2nd of September. This could indicate either a supreme confidence in the film’s pulling power, or it’s just not expected to do that well. Let’s hope it’s the former.

Synopsis | A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
