Mr Robot Season_2.0 Official Trailer

Finally! A first look at how the second season of Mr Robot will shape up…

In season one we saw a disillusioned Elliot Alderson battle acute social awkwardness, drug addiction and mental instability and kickstart a digital revolution. Mr Robot is addictive viewing and came as a refreshing and anarchic breath of fresh air. It was hard to see how a second season could continue the story, but the solution is simple…

… reboot. It seems that in season two Elliot (skillfully portrayed by Rami Malek) will awaken in ignorance of his exploits as a hacker that started a revolution. Christian Slater returns as Elliot’s father, existing only in the schizophrenics’ head. Other familiar cast members reprise their roles.

Restarting through memory loss may seem a kop out in some respects, but actually the plot device fits perfectly with Elliot’s character traits and allows for the best elements of season one to return when it seemed difficult at the conclusion of the first season. Elliot’s father, for example, is not only the titular character, but motivates and drives the plot – his presence would be very noticeable in his absence.

About Mr Robot | MR. ROBOT follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a young cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Christian Slater). Following the events of fsociety’s hack on multi-national company Evil Corp, the second season will explore the consequences of that attack as well as the illusion of control. The series also stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and Stephanie Corneliussen.
