NBA Star Paul George Combines Basketball And PS4 In Signature Shoe

Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George has revealed his second signature shoe from Nike, and they design combines his love of Basketball with his passion for PlayStation.

Basketball shoes are big business and Nike are a leading brand when it comes to that. But Oklahoma City Thunder player, Paul George, wanted his signature shoe to go beyond sport and reflect his other passion. Video games.

The result is a collaboration between George and shoe designer Tony Hardman who helped realise the basketball star’s first signature shoe, the PG1, and this latest version, the PG2.

From nike.com | It’s no secret that George loves gaming (he favors PlayStation consoles). In fact, he says he considers himself one of the biggest gamers in the NBA. With the launch colorway of the PG2, a collaboration highlighting George’s passion and the PS4, he’s able to connect these two worlds.

“I just had a knack for video games,” says George of the origin of his passion. “As soon as I discovered PlayStation, I was throwing hints here and there to my dad — cutting out the clipping of a video game, cutting out the clippings of the PlayStation, leaving it on his dresser. I remember on Christmas morning, I unwrapped my gift and sure enough, it was the PS2. I’ve been a PlayStation guy ever since.”

The shoes not only sport George’s PG logo on the right tongue, the left carries the distinctive PlayStation logo too. Beyond that the logos are fitted with LED lights with three modes. Off, on and pulsate. Lace eyelets are colour matched to the PlayStation’s button icons for that extra, but subtle, consistency.
