Netflix are at San Diego Comic Con with reveals for their forthcoming Marvel character television shows – all leading to The Defenders team up series.
We’ve all known that Luke Cage and Iron Fist series were coming exclusively to Netflix following the huge success of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Luke Cage of course plays a significant role in the latter series as the man with bullet proof skin. Cage features in a Comic Con sizzle reel alongside Marvel’s television heroes and villains, Wilson Fisk, Killgrave and the anti-hero Frank Castle aka The Punisher.
But that’s just a teaser for the teaser, kind of. As the streaming service also dropped a one and a half minute teaser trailer for Luke Cage which finds the reluctant hero embracing his super strength and impenetrable skin to take down some undesirables.
Looks good, but it’s going to cost him a fortune in hoodies. But what about Iron Fist? Fans were not disappointed as we also got to see a brief first look at Marvel’s series still in the works. The story follows that of Danny Rand and his perpetual fight to reclaim everything he’s lost. I’m not familiar with the character’s back story, but bet on it being more involved than just looking down the back of the sofa for the missing remote.
Finally there’s The Defenders, a grittier more potty mouthed team up than The Avengers which will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist combine forces against a sinister and powerful threat, no doubt. The show is scheduled for a 2017 release and at this time the teaser for the show features only an interesting graphic, a remix of Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are’ as a backing track and an anonymous derisory statement. Intriguing!
Of all of the news coming out of San Diego Comic Con from Netflix regarding their Marvel titles, The Defenders is definitely the one that’s got the most of my interest. How about you? Let us know in the comments.
