Netflix have dropped a teaser for the television adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s novella, ‘Nightflyers’.
From ‘Game of Thrones’ author, George R.R. Martin, comes a television adaptation of his 1980 novella ‘Nightflyers’ for Netflix. Though the show will air on the streaming service globally this autumn, ‘Nightflyers’ will receive its first run on SyFy in the United States.
The series follows eight scientists and an powerful psychic aboard The Nightflyer for a mission to the edges of the solar system where they hope to encounter an alien being. But as the voyage progresses a series of events triggers uncertainty amongst the crew. Soon, simply surviving becomes more significant that the completing the mission.
‘Nightflyers’ is the latest addition to Netflix’s flourishing line-up of science fiction films and programming which affirms the service’s commitment to the genre.
‘Nightflyers’ was first adapted for film in 1987 with a cast that included, amongst others, James Avery. Avery is fondly remembered for playing ‘Uncle Phil’ in ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.
