Wednesday May 28th
Wednesday is nearly upon us which means it’s nearly new comics day, so it’s time to take a look at three new and noteworthy additions to your pull list. Here are my picks for the Wednesday 28th of May.
Ordinary #1 [of 3]
What if everyone woke up with superpowers – and it was the worst thing in the world? When a strange plague gives every human being on the planet special powers, it’s seen as the next step in human evolution. But hope quickly turns to terror, as every war, terrorist attack, every crime, every simple street argument escalates a truly horrific point. The world is tearing itself apart – every trouble spot becomes a monstrous war zone and nuclear Armageddon looms. The plague must be cured if humankind is to survive. The key lies in the blood of the only human being who didn’t get powers when the plague hit: A downtrodden, recently divorced New York plumber named Michael Fisher. The most ordinary man alive has suddenly become the most extraordinary person on Planet Earth. Giant baseball players, grannies aging in reverse, a talking Grizzly bear. That’s nothing out of the Ordinary!
Brass Sun #1 [of 6]
2000 AD is bringing Ian Edginton and INJ Culbard’s vast clockpunk epic, Brass Sun, to North America with a six-issue US-format miniseries. This incredible new monthly series from the bestselling artist of New Deadwardians and the hit writer of Scarlet Traces and Hinterkind is something readers of Saga, Hinterkind, East of West, Prophet, and Black Science will find intriguing. The Orrery is a clockwork solar system where planets whirl on vast metal arms and the sun of cogs is worshipped as a god. But the sun is dying, the planets are freezing one by one, and cults burn as heretics those who warn of the danger. To save her home, young Wren knows she must first escape it and find the key to restart the sun.
Giant-Size Spider-Man #1
Young Peter Parker is the high school bullies’ favorite target. But all that changes the day a science experiment goes wrong, and Peter begins to transform! When a personal tragedy teaches Peter a harsh lesson in responsibility, he must find the inner strength to become a hero! Can the brand-new Spider-Man master his new powers in time to take on the villainous Vulture? When a giant robot spider attacks New York, Spider-Man must prove his innocence by tracking down the scientist responsible: the diabolical Dr. Octopus! When the sinister Sandman assaults Midtown High, it’s up to Peter to stop him — even if must risk revealing his secret identity! Four titanic tales set in Spider-Man’s past.
