Oats Studios – Zygote, God and Cooking With Bill

Oats Studios unveils yet more experimental films and their damn good!

Oats Studios was formed by director Neill Blomkamp who previously directed District 9, Elysium and Chappie.

Neill has formed Oats Studios to enable him to produce short experimental films that can be shared with the community and maybe expanded into full-length features.

If you want to know more about Oats Studios and the way in which you can donate a small fee to gain access to various assets used in the making of these short films and more, check out our pages of the first two films, Rakka and Firebase.

Entitled Volume 1, this first wave of short films keep on coming and here’s a roundup of more brilliant short films.

Starring Sharlto Copley as God, watch as he amuses himself with his playthings but he soon becomes bored!

‘Cooking With Bill’ is a series of short 1980’s style infomercials starring Bill and his assistant. Together, they try and demonstrate some of the latest kitchen technology with unsettling results.

Bill is played by Alec Gillis, one of the co-founders of Amalgamated Dynamics, a company who specialises in animatronic and special make-up effects.

Oats Studios – Volume 1 – Cooking With Bill: Damasu 950

Oats Studios – Volume 1 – Cooking With Bill: Sushi

Oats Studios – Volume 1 – Cooking With Bill: Smoothie

Oats Studios – Volume 1 – Cooking With Bill: PrestoVeg

Finally, we have another short film, Zygote. Set in a far northern Arctic mining facility, a synthetic human (Dakota Fanning) tries to help an officer of the base escape a new kind horror!

Personally I think some of these short films have better ideas than anything Hollywood is currently producing. We’ll keep an eye on Oats Studios here at The Unheard Nerd and see what more disturbing imagery from the mind of Neill Blomkamp will be coming our way!
