Primordial Emcee – Comic Relief | Lyric Video

Packed with comic book references and innuendo, Primordial Emcee pays tribute to superheroes. Sing along with this lyric video for Comic Relief.

Toronto // Comic Relief is the second single from Toronto rapper, Primordial Emcee’s album ‘X-Faction 2: Reanimated’. Producer Iron Wind blends a ’20s jazz groove with a classic boom-bap beat to provide a swinging backdrops for Primordial to spit on.

With illustrations provided by Halifax comic book artist Dave Howlett (the man behind indie comic The Last Paper Route in collaboration with Wordburglar) this lyric video details Primordial Emcee’s love of comic book characters in a tribute tinged with more than a little innuendo.

Comic Relief is a good indicator of what you’ll find on ‘X-Faction 2: Reanimation’. The album is available via Hand’Solo Records for $8 digital or $9 plus shipping for a CD.

In addition there’s a DJ pack available for Comic Relief, also from Hand’Solo, featuring a clean cut, accapella and various other treats. Best of all, it’s available for free.

About Primordial Emcee | Toronto rapper Primordial Emcee fell in love with rap in 1997. “When I heard the GZA,” he explains, “It’s like a lightbulb went off in my head and I all of a sudden knew how to rap. But it was just the theory I understood, I had to refine my craft for many years.” Prime went through a few name changes and evolutions in style until it all came together in 2009 when he settled on his current name and co-founded Toronto rap group Faction with Chief 4syt and Apocalypse.
