What happens when the X-Men are not around to protect their own kind? Fox brings mutants to the small screen with their new series The Gifted.

Bryan Singer directs the first episode of Fox’s first small screen mutant adventure. A family is torn apart when the children of the man responsible for capturing mutants turn out to be the very kind he hunts.

In an attempt to secure their safety the family join an underground group that fights for a better future where humans and mutants can exist in peace.

It all feels a bit Heroes in tone and at its core but benefits significantly from Bryan Singer’s involvement and its ties to the X-Men movie universe which has an existing substantial and loyal fanbase.

The Gifted is the latest of many television series based on Marvel characters, although – as with the movies – all things X-Men and mutant related are licensed to Fox meaning the show is unlikely to tie-in with any of the other hero based shows.

The Gifted will begin broadcasting on October 2nd.

About The Gifted | In a world where mutated humans are treated with distrust and fear, an institute for mutants battles to achieve peaceful co-existence with humanity.
