WOW! #SDCC2017 unveils a slew of trailers for several eagerly awaited films and television shows!
I have to admit, I’m excited for all of these, so without further ado and in no particular order,
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Trek: Discovery is the new show to premiere on CBS’s new channel, CBS All Access, in the US. Other countries will be able to watch via Netflix.
This is the first regular Star Trek television show since Enterprise left our screens in 2005.
Star Trek: Discovery will be set approximately ten years before the original 1960’s television show and focus on the USS Discovery which will be caught in the middle of a cold war between the Federation and the Klingons.
Star Trek: Discovery will air in September.
Stranger Things: Season 2
Stranger Things was a huge success for Netflix. A show that followed the adventures of four children that met a young girl who had amazing psychic abilities. To say any more would spoil the show, rest assured, my short description does not do this show justice.
The other major talking point about the show was the aesthetic as the story is set in the 1980’s. It was fun to try and catch all the 1980’s easter eggs that were hidden throughout the show.
The story does, unfortunately, end on a cliffhanger and come October 27th we’ll finally get to see how events will unfold.
After Man Of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Wonder Woman, we get the first big payoff with this fourth film in the series. The team will finally come together in Justice League.
The Justice League will bring together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman along with Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash.
The DC movies have had a bit of a rocky start and it will be interesting to see how Justice League will fair after the recent high praise of Wonder Woman.

Ready Player One
The story of Ready Player One was a great book written by Ernest Cline. The story had me hooked and I read through in just a few days. I enjoyed it so much, you can read my review from 2015 here at The Unheard Nerd.
The story concerns a huge virtual universe known as the Oasis and it’s where most people spend their free time. The creator of OASIS passed away several years before the story begins. He left behind clues in the virtual world that would lead to a prize so big, everyone is searching for them.
The hero of the story, Wade, manages to help crack the first clue which no one else has managed since the creators passing.
The book was essentially a love letter to the 1980’s with so many references to games, films and other media from that era that it almost becomes too much.
Steven Spielberg has directed this live action adaptation and a lot of his 1980’s films were heavily referenced in the book. Speilberg has said some of his material will make the film but it looks like he has substituted many other references instead.
Just from my first viewing, I glimpsed the Back To The Future DeLorean, The Iron Giant, and Freddy Krueger!
