Ahead of their release in June, Puma have finally revealed their SEGA shoe collaboration, the ‘Sonic RS-0’.
Berlin, Germany | First teased back in March with a pixelated image, Puma have finally revealed their shoe collaboration with SEGA.
Puma are rebooting their ’80s RS (Running System) shoe line with a new Sonic the Hedgehog inspired design. Although they won’t be available in shops until June, the German company revealed the new ‘Sonic RS-0’ shoes on their home turf at a press event in Berlin.
Pictures show the shoes will, as expected, come in blue to match the speedy Hedgehog’s colour, with accents inspired by the classic video game.
Red soles represent Sonic’s shoes whilst detailing on the sides and heel echo the fundamental building blocks of the video game’s Green Hill Zone level. An embroidered design and gold metal rings on the laces are also a nod to those collected by Sonic in each level.
Keeping true to the retro concept of the design, the shoes come finished with a hairy suede upper, which just looks horrible! And itchy. And worn out.
Sonic and Puma branding are present on the tongue with the shoe manufacturer’s iconic ‘formstripe’ subtly placed along the side.
