With an already significant comic fan base, we finally see the introduction of Miles Morales, an alternative Spider-Man story.
Following the death of Peter Parker at the hands of the Green Goblin, comic book fans saw, and embraced Miles Morales as an alternative version of Spider-Man first introduced by Marvel Comics in Ultimate Fallout #4 in 2011.
Since then there has been a growing movement to see the character brought to life on the big screen. In fact Lucasfilm’s young Lando Calrissian, Donald Glover, actively touted for the role himself. Alas, to-date, a live action version of Morales has yet to be seen.
Now a new feature-length animated film from Sony Pictures Animation will finally shine the spotlight on Miles Morales. This teaser trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ looks to be an origin story that could open the door for a wider Spider-Verse.
In the teaser we witness Morales visiting the grave of Peter Parker and the new Spidey clumsily getting to grips with his powers.
It certainly looks like there will be more than just Morales websliging around the ‘Big Apple’ and fans would surely be hyped at the prospect of Spider-Gwen joining the universe, either as a tie-in or seperate instalment.
Slick animation in an urban setting makes the look of ‘Into The Spider-Verse’ an appealing prospect. Spidey’s Nike footwear is pretty sick too.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is expected in cinemas in 2018.
