Anchorman star Will Ferrell will reprise his role as Ron Burgundy for a new podcast set to debut in early 2019.
‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ became a comedy phenomenon upon its release in 2004. Portraying the calamitous news anchor Ron Burgundy, the role arguably became Will Ferrell’s most recognisable.
A sequel was released in 2013 where we found Burgundy, a relic of a bygone era, struggling to adapt to the modern world of newscasting and having a hard time with gender equality.
Now Ron is set to make waves via a new medium. Will Ferrell will lend his talents once more to the character for ‘The Ron Burgundy Podcast’.
In a joint production between Funny or Die and iHeartRadio, the podcast has been commissioned with a twelve episode, two season order. ‘The Ron Burgundy Podcast’ will debut in early 2019 on the iHeartRadio network.
News of the podcast broke when a new twitter handle @BurgundyPodcast began a social media spat with CNN’s Don Lemon in which Burgundy claimed his White House press credentials had been revoked. The reason, he states, was for eating too many hot dogs.
Hello, @donlemon! It’s your good friend, Ron Burgundy. Don’t know if you heard, but I recently had my White House press credentials pulled. They accused me of eating too many hot dogs in the press break room.

There has been no confirmation yet whether any of Ron’s fellow newscasters will be joining him on the show, but I’d like to think that at least a few will make guest appearances.
