The American television network, FX, has released three new teaser trailers for their upcoming summer television series, The Strain. The plot follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team who have to battle a strange mysterious disease that seems to give the infected the traits of being a vampire.
Originally devised as a television series by film director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy 1 & 2, Pacific Rim), it failed to find a backer. He then joined forces with author Chuck Hogan and turned it into a three part novel series. In time, this has been adapted into a comic series that is just reaching the end of the second book. As if to come full circle, the FX network has been developing a television series based on the novels.
Television networks are producing some quality entertainment at the moment and having read the books I’m really looking forward to this series. Unfortunately I can’t comment on these teasers as they have been geo-locked to the US. Sorry UK fans, we’ll have to wait.
The series will premier this summer on July 14th on FX.
The Strain is a high concept thriller from Academy Award® nominated Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, author Chuck Hogan and writer/producer Carlton Cuse, which is based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy of the same title written by del Toro and Hogan. It tells the story of “Dr. Ephraim Goodweather,” the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
