The wave of superhero television shows continue with Supergirl joining the roster this fall from CBS. Can Superman’s cousin make a successful leap onto the small screen?
For comic book fans everywhere, now is your time. Whilst Marvel and DC battle it out on the big screen with high budget blockbusters, the lesser known characters are forging their own successful shows on television.
Supergirl first hit the limelight in 1984 with a British financed movie hoping to ride on the fame of Superman. Unfortunately it wasn’t a big success. Supergirl did however make a regular appearance in the show ‘Smallville’, the long running series about Superman’s early life.
Now after the success of shows like ‘The Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’, CBS brings us ‘Supergirl’. This first look with an extended six minute trailer reveals a lot of clichés, an obvious push towards the female market but yet still looks like it could be a lot of fun.
What do you think? Is there room for more superheroes on the television? Is this image of Supergirl feel wrong to you? Leave us a comment of Twitter, Facebook or just use the comments box below, we’d love to hear them.
