After 26 years, Terminator 2 is returning to cinema screens looking refreshed, restored and in 3D!
If you’re like me then this next sentence will make you feel rather old. This year marks the 26th anniversary of Terminator 2. Yep, it was all the way back in 1991 that this film hit the cinema screens and blew us all away with its amazing cutting edge visual effects and huge action sequences.
I saw it several times at the cinema and have owned copies on VHS, laserdisc, DVD and a couple of Blu-rays!
But many of you have never had the chance to see it on the big screen, now is that time.
Not only has the film been through a meticulous 4K restoration process, but the film’s director James Cameron has been supervising a 3D conversion of Terminator 2.
Cameron has been a big purveyor of utilising the latest film technology. He promoted the use of 3D for his box office smash Avatar and converted his 1997 film Titanic into 3D as well.
This wasn’t a quick cash-in either. Having personally watched Titanic in 3D, I can say it’s an excellent conversion job.
Now after a couple of years of hard work by the 3D conversion company Stereo D, who Cameron calls, “the best 3D conversion house in the world”, we will see their results with Terminator 2.
This latest trailer has James Cameron explaining why you should watch this classic film in 3D.
And if you’ve never seen the first two Terminator films at all…change that immediately, they are truly two great pieces of sci-fi.
