The Kaiju Have Returned! | Pacific Rim: Uprising (Trailer #2)

A new portal is allowing Kaiju to cross over into our world! Can a team of young Jaeger pilots stop them?

The original Pacific Rim, directed by Guillermo del Toro was released back in 2013. In this futuristic tale, giant creatures known as Kaiju were travelling to our world via an interdimensional portal. Only skilled pilots in huge bipedal machines, known as Jaegers, were able to stop them.

The film was a moderate success and Universal sat on the fence for a long time before finally giving a sequel the go ahead.

Unfortunately, del Toro will not be returning to direct. The reins this time around have been picked up Steven S. DeKnight who is best known for creating, writing and producing the Spartacus series from the American channel Starz.

Set ten years after the original, John Boyega is Jake, the son of Stacker Pentecost, who was played by Idris Elba in the first film.

As we can see from this latest trailer, someone for unknown reasons has opened a new portal to the Kaiju dimension, allowing the destructive creatures to pass through once again.

Jake Pentecost must assemble a new younger crew of Jaeger pilots to try and save the world from the Kaiju once more.
