Transcendence | Teaser Trailer

Transcendence, Not a Tim Burton or Helena Bonham-Carter in sight!

Johnny Depp plays the role of Dr. Will Caster in a sci-fi movie directed by Wally Pfister from Warner Bros. As a leading researcher in the field of artificial intelligence his ultimate goal is to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of every human being with a full range of emotions. Anti-technology extremists provide the catalyst to push Caster to the point of his own transcendence.

The plot reminds me in some respects of The Rapture Of The Nerds, a novel from Cory Doctorow and Charles Stross.

UPDATE

Here’s a second teaser trailer much like the first except this one is narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Two leading computer scientists work toward their goal of Technological Singularity, as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.
