As Spider-Man fans continue to count their blessings that their favourite webslinger is finally part of the MCU, a trio of new posters show the fun side of Spidey.
Fans have long wanted Spider-Man in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe and we got our first teaser of how Spidey fits in with an appearance of the character in the 2016 movie, ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
British actor Tom Holland looks to be a natural fit as Peter Parker offering a youthful naivety to the character teamed with a smart-ass sense of humour.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is the first solo film for Marvel’s iconic character in their modern cinematic universe following a fan-pleasing collaboration with Sony Pictures.
Having acquired the rights to the Spider-Man franchise before Marvel established its current production set-up, the deal enabled Sony to continue making films based on Spider-Man and associated characters, preventing Marvel from using an iconic character from their comic catalogue in their own films.
The result of the union is that fans finally get to see spidey alongside other favourite characters, like Iron Man, Captain America and the other Avengers. Marvel get some control back of one of their most famous and beloved characters, and Sony – who have missed the mark many times with their previous Spider-Man films – get the guidance of the Marvel machine, which appears to be able to do no wrong when it comes to bringing their comic book characters to the big screen.
Setting the tone for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, which hits cinemas in July 2017, are these three new posters, each of which features Avengers Tower in the New York skyline hinting at a wider cast of characters than previously supposed.
