Retailer Uniqlo received over 16,000 entries in their Global T-Shirt Design competition, and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto selected the winners.
Fashion | Last year UK clothing company, Hype, teamed up with Pokémon for a very limited run of t-shirts, sweaters and other select items of clothing which featured your favourite characters. Demand was high, stock levels were not.
Now global retailer Uniqlo will offer fans all over the world the chance to grab Pokémon t-shirts as well as a wide range of other designs based on Nintendo characters.
The designs are the result of a Global T-Shirt competition which received over 16,000 entries. Judging the designs was Mr Nintendo himself, Shigeru Miyamoto. Twenty five designs in total will be produced paying homage to Mario, Pokémon, Star Fox, Pikmin, Kirby, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and Donkey Kong… Phew!
The winning entry came from Takashi Kawazoe from Japan with his retro, pixelated Super Mario design. Second place also went to Japan with Shino Yamazaki’s Splatoon shirt with David Ricardo Flores Gomez from Mexico taking third with his stunning Legend of Zelda design that fills the front and back of the shirt.
Uniqlo X Nintendo is an exciting team up and provides the perfect opportunity to pair up a cool shirt with those Nintendo themed Vans we (I) bought last year.
All designs will be available around the world from Uniqlo from May 18th 2017. To see all of the designs head visit the Uniqlo website.
