Tom Hardy stars as a reporter inhabited by an alien symbiote known as ‘Venom’ in this dark adaptation of a Marvel Comics property.
Keen to build on the success of their well received 2017 collaboration with Marvel Studios, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, Sony Pictures have been quick to tap into characters that come along with the Spidey-license.
Sony have long held the rights to all things cinematically Spider-Man, rebooting the character multiple times now. But an exciting collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios resulted in the best version of Spidey on the big screen to date with Tom Holland in the lead as Peter Parker.
Utilising their rights to characters associated with Spider-Man, Sony have now turned their attentions to the darker side of Marvel with their latest film ‘Venom’. Though, unlike ‘Homecoming’, the film has no ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and much to fan’s disapointment, Spider-Man is unlikely to appear as a result.
Tom Hardy stars as inquisitive reporter Eddie Brock who becomes inhabited by a sinister alien symbiote known as ‘Venom’.
Venom is heading to cinemas in the UK and US from October 5th. Other regions should check release dates at IMDB.
