Based on Blizzard Entertainment’s hugely popular video game series, Warcraft aims to bring epic fantasy battles to the big screen.
The Warcraft series of games debuted in 1994 but it was the 2004 release of Blizzard Entertainment’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game ‘World of Warcraft’ that saw the title become the behemoth it did.
Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures have teamed up to bring the grand scale of the video game to the big screen. Clearly CGI laden the movie depicts the plight of the inhabitants of Azeroth, a peaceful realm that faces the prospect of war as an invasion of Orc warriors seek to colonise the land as they flee their own dying homeland. However, a divining event sees both on the verge of extinction from a new threat forcing two heroes to decide the fate of their people.
Warcraft is in cinemas in the UK from May 30th with the US theatrical release later on June 10th. Other regions should check IMDB for release dates.
Synopsis | The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another.
