Recently we ran a twitter poll asking if players were still into Pokémon GO, or has interest faded? The resounding result fell in favour of the latter.
But Niantic, the company behind Pokémon GO, are keen to lure players back with some new additions to the game.
Fans have been vocal in their desire for more monsters to be added to the game, but have, to date, only been part placated with limited ‘event’ additions.
The first new Pokémon to be included post-launch was Ditto, a monster that comes disguised as a common Rattatta or Pidgey, only revealing its true self after capture.
Then came the Christmas themed Pikachus, wearing their little Santa’s hats, before the introduction of baby Pokémon like Pichu, Togepi and Igglypuff.
Now, it seems, Niantic are ready to take the game up a notch with the first major announcement since launch and the introduction of eighty new second gen monsters.
Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and many more Pokémon are nearly here! Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games.
As well as the new Pokémon, players can also look forward to new evolutions, new ‘encounter gameplay’, new berries and a larger wardrobe from which to dress your avatar.
Roll-out of updates begins later this week and should help to breath new life into the game for remaining players. I feel it’s unlikely to coax past players back in vast numbers or attract many new players.
