William Shakespeare’s The Empire Striketh Back

In December we reported on William Shakespeare’s Star Wars, a re-writing of the classic adventure as if penned by the great bard himself.

The Empire Striketh Back
Actually written by Ian Doescher, it makes perfect sense that he would follow with tradition and publish the second (and by far the best, in my opinion) instalment of George Lucas’s original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back.

Once again written as a play in the style of William Shakespeare Doescher recounts every moment of Lucas’s tale of a rebellion uprising and empirical tyranny in a classical style that, although interesting and endearing (even surprisingly easy to digest), does at times water down the impact of those lines of dialogue we know and love so well.

In addition to the text one of the joys of these books is the artwork spread throughout the pages. Wonderful old fashioned depictions of characters from the film in the same style as Yoda is portrayed on the cover.

William Shakespeare’s The Empire Striketh Back is available in hardback now, expect a conclusion to the trilogy in the form of Return Of The Jedi in mere months.
