X-Men: Dark Phoenix | They’re still making X-Men movies

Jean Grey takes centre stage as the X-Men movie franchise takes a second swing at the Dark Phoenix saga.

Word on the street is that ‘Dark Phoenix’ will be Fox’s last X-Men movie before the Disney buy out of the company is complete. After that you can bet that the franchise will be rebooted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s about time too! ‘Dark Phoenix’ marks the twelfth instalment in a series that has been more miss than hit over the years.

It is perhaps fitting then that what could be a last hurrah for the current line-up of actors is a reboot of the ‘Dark Phoenix’ saga.

With actress Famke Janssen playing Jean Grey at the time, ‘X-Men: Last Stand’ utilised Grey’s struggle with the Phoenix Force as a secondary plot point without making it the focus of the film. Something that ‘Dark Phoenix’ aims to address.

Sophie Turner now makes the role her own as this latest installment will place Jean Grey front and centre as the character becomes the biggest threat to the X-Men yet.

With her power growing beyond her control Grey unleashes havoc on those closest to her and threatens the very existence of the X-Men. Somehow they must galvanise in an attempt to save their friend and the world from an alien threat that seek to weaponize the force Grey harnesses.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 7th.

Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
